Reporting Process

GE Citizenship is integrated with GE’s overall business strategy—with the same goals, strategies and accountabilities that drive business. In an effort to contribute to a sustainable planet, we have moved away from producing a paper report and have provided our Citizenship information primarily in a Web-based environment, with a printable PDF summary of the highlights. We believe that every contribution to “being green” can make a difference. The information on this report portal complements our Annual Report as well as the reports on our ecomagination and healthymagination strategies.

Each year, as our approach to corporate citizenship evolves, we aim to determine and clarify the scope of GE’s material impacts. Our citizenship and reporting priorities are informed by broad engagement with stakeholders across GE businesses and the communities where we work.

For this report, we worked with our stakeholders to determine the optimum framework to illustrate GE’s vast Citizenship efforts. Based on that input, we have aligned our Citizenship content to follow the environment, economic and social (EES) format—People, Planet and Economy. As in prior years, we have sought not only to respond to stakeholders who want to know what GE is doing on particular issues, but also to demonstrate to our employees, shareowners, business partners and others in society how helping to solve global challenges is core to GE’s sustainable growth strategy.

This online report is interactive, and we will continue to update its information throughout the year to reflect our ongoing discussion with stakeholders. To assist navigation, this report highlights links to relevant additional information on the broader Citizenship website, including case studies, interviews and videos on key challenges, dilemmas and opportunities. We also have input from stakeholders, and these perspectives are unedited by GE.

This online content is produced for the benefit of all stakeholders, including our employees—the people whose actions define us every day. We hope that this online report provides useful information about the shared sustainability challenges facing business and society. We will continue to engage in these constructive discussions, just as we will continue to work toward contributing solutions for a thriving and sustainable world.
