Human Rights Principles

GE promotes respect for fundamental human rights, and views it as a key component of responsible corporate citizenship. In addition to supporting the fundamental principles contained in the Universal Declaration on Human Rights, we have joined with other companies to find practical ways to apply the principles of the Declaration in the business community.

Human rights concerns touch our sphere of influence in many ways—from consistent hiring practices and the right to privacy to the human right to clean water and access to healthcare. Often GE helps to effect change through partnerships, such as collaborations with the Business Leaders Initiative on Human Rights and the UN Global Compact. We also advance respect for fundamental human rights within the communities in which our businesses operate by leading by example—influencing our employees and business partners through actions consistent with our internal human rights policies.
